Mrs. Weathersby

Darla Weathersby

Hello! I am Mrs. Weathersby. I am an enthusiastic, cheerful teacher and work daily to make my classroom a happy place to be. I am told often that I am always smiling and laughing. I try to teach my students that attitude determines what they experience each day. I love teaching school and having a good time.

I hope to teach my students that no matter what stage of mathematic development they are in, there is a place for them in our classroom. I hope they will let go of their own negative inner voices and reach to learn and grow each day.

I believe it is vital for students to develop math skills to survive in the real world. Math is important in life because it is used to perform many different daily tasks, such as balancing a checkbook, reading an odometer, counting change and making strategic decisions in one's work life. I work to provide opportunities that will guide each student to success.

Mr. Cameron

My name is Jordan Cameron; I grew up in Rexburg, and I have lived in Idaho most of the life. I am extremely blessed to be teaching science here at Madison Middle School. My love of science was inspired by the amazing teachers I had growing up. I remember the awe I had when looking at plant cells under a microscope for the first time in 5th grade, and being blown away. I have loved science ever since, and I continually strive to learn more about the natural world around us. Students will be expected to collaborate and work together as a team as they discover and build their scientific knowledge.

I also direct theatre productions here at Madison Middle School. I helped start the theatre program when I was attending BYU-Idaho, and I have volunteered as MMS theatre director the last four years. I am pleased to continue offering theatre as an extra-curricular to students after school.

Mrs. Christensen

Tara Christensen

My name is Tara Christensen and this will be my third year teaching at Madison Middle School. I am excited to be on Team 6-2 and to be teaching Reading and Language Arts. I grew up in Northern California and met my husband here in Rexburg when we attended Ricks College. We have five amazing kids who keep us busy. We moved back to Rexburg in 2013 and have loved being part of this community.

From substituting at the elementary school in Dubois, ID when I was first married, to being a room-mom, to being a member of the PTO in Roswell, NM, to working as a para-professional in a charter school in UT, I have developed a passion for education. This passion has culminated in the achievement of my long-time goal of obtaining my teaching certificate and have a classroom of my own! I benefitted so much from the teachers I had when I was young and from the teachers who I have worked with in my children’s classroom. I plan to use what I have learned and hopefully benefit the lives of the students I have the opportunity to teach.

I believe that in order for a student to learn to love to read they have to love what they are reading. I will provide a safe and productive learning environment where students will feel confident in themselves and their abilities. I believe that this will help them become motivated learners and develop a love for learning.
