My name is Tara Christensen and this will be my third year teaching at Madison Middle School. I am excited to be on Team 6-2 and to be teaching Reading and Language Arts. I grew up in Northern California and met my husband here in Rexburg when we attended Ricks College. We have five amazing kids who keep us busy. We moved back to Rexburg in 2013 and have loved being part of this community.
From substituting at the elementary school in Dubois, ID when I was first married, to being a room-mom, to being a member of the PTO in Roswell, NM, to working as a para-professional in a charter school in UT, I have developed a passion for education. This passion has culminated in the achievement of my long-time goal of obtaining my teaching certificate and have a classroom of my own! I benefitted so much from the teachers I had when I was young and from the teachers who I have worked with in my children’s classroom. I plan to use what I have learned and hopefully benefit the lives of the students I have the opportunity to teach.
I believe that in order for a student to learn to love to read they have to love what they are reading. I will provide a safe and productive learning environment where students will feel confident in themselves and their abilities. I believe that this will help them become motivated learners and develop a love for learning.
