Team 6-3

Welcome to sixth grade!

I entered the field of education for many reasons. One significant reason is to be a positive role model. I want my students to feel important, valued, and enjoy the learning process. I want my students to build positive self-images and strive to continually better themselves. Children need to know what it feels like to be successful. I believe that it is my responsibility, as their teacher, to help direct and lead students through their individual channel to success.

I've been teaching at Madison Middle School since 1996. Before teaching sixth grade, I taught seventh grade for fifteen years.

My husband and I live in Salem and have five children and five, adorable grandchildren. I teach Language Arts and Reading for Team 6-3.

Mrs. Green

Melissa Green

Hello! My name is Melissa Green. I am the math teacher for team 6-3. I love teaching math and seeing my students make connections. My favorite thing about math is that it teaches students to work through problems until they can find a solution. This is a great life lesson to be learned. I want my students to feel successful and confident in mathematics; knowing that they can accomplish hard things with effort and work.

I was born and raised in Rexburg, Idaho. I love this area and the community. I am involved in Madison Athletics as a Soccer and Track and Field coach. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I like playing card games, being outdoors, staying active, and traveling to new places.

Hi, I’m Mrs. Gifford and I am so excited to be teaching 6th grade at Madison Middle School.  Sixth grade is an amazing year because the students are so capable of doing great things that it makes learning both fun and meaningful. I LOVE teaching science and facilitating the joy of discovery as students learn about the world around them.

We are returning to Rexburg after living in Denver, Colorado for three years and I previously taught second grade at Kennedy Elementary School for eight years. I also taught 6th grade for several years in Washington State.

My husband and I have three wonderful sons and an amazing daughter-in-law and we will soon be grandparents for the first time!  I love walking every morning, reading, playing the piano, growing a flower garden, baking chocolate chip cookies, and creating photo books. I can’t wait to be part of team 6-3!
