Team 5-2

Mrs. Lauritsen

Juli Lauritsen

I’m Juli Lauritsen and I truly LOVE teaching fifth grade!  I’ve been teaching fifth grade for over 15 years, and teaching is what I’ve always wanted to do.  Making students feel safe and loved is my first priority because that’s when they learn the best!  I’m the math teacher on our team and really love seeing kids’ learning lights come on when they understand new and exciting concepts.  On Team 5-2, we work hard to create a fun, safe environment with lots of opportunities for students to learn and grow.

I grew up in Rexburg and graduated from Madison High School.  My husband is an artist and runs the Art program at MHS.  I have three children, all graduates of MHS, one son-in-law, one daughter-in-law, and one grandson, Sawyer.

Mrs. Barrus

Sunny Barrus

Hello!  My name is Sunny Barrus and I am excited to be teaching 5th grade reading and language arts at Madison Middle School. I am an advocate for lifelong learning. I am a believer in Albert Einstein’s philosophy that, “Education is not the learning of facts but the training of the mind to think.” I look forward to creating a safe learning environment where the students can increase their love of reading and expand their understanding of the world through literature. I am thrilled to be working with your children this year and look forward to a year full of discovery, challenging work, and fun learning opportunities.

I am a lifetime resident of Rexburg and a proud Madison bobcat. I love spending time with my family, especially in the outdoors. Some of my interests include hiking, traveling, reading, and quilting. I love meeting new people and look forward to getting to know each of my students this year!

Mrs. Lusk

Hi! My name is Mary Lusk. I am so excited to be teaching 5th grade Science and Social Studies on team 5-2 this year. I love that I will have the opportunity to teach your awesome kids. I have always wanted to be a teacher and help cultivate the excitement of learning new things. I believe that every student should have the same opportunity to learn in a safe and friendly environment.

I grew up in Salt Lake City but have called Rexburg home for over 20 years now. I love so many things about the wonderful area that we live in. I enjoy spending time with my husband and four amazing daughters in the mountains hiking or riding our bikes. I also love reading, sewing, anything crafty, playing the piano and playing all types of games. I’m so excited for the coming year and how much we will learn and grow together!
