Merilee Sorensen

The first thing that you should know about me is that I am passionate about teaching and learning.  I thoroughly enjoy spending my days with your children.  They are amazing young people and teach me something new every day.  My favorite part of my job is watching the “light bulb” come on with students.  Those moments are priceless!

When I am not here at school, I get to be home with my husband and four of my own wonderful children who also teach me something new every day.  Together we enjoy camping, hiking, cross-country skiing, and just spending time together.

I was born and raised in Utah and  I have lived in Rexburg since 2002.  I have been teaching at Madison Middle School since 2010 and hope to be around for many years to come.

Soni Thueson

Soni Thueson

My name is Soni Thueson and I am excited to be teaching fifth grade this year. I thoroughly enjoy helping others learn and being a learner myself. I have had a variety of opportunities throughout the years that have increased my ability to meet student needs. I have gained valuable insight through my experiences in the educational system as a student, university educator, elementary teacher, volunteer, private tutor, and parent. I admire and appreciate the faculty, staff, and administration of Madison Middle School. I love being a part of such a dedicated community of educators who do their best to bless and help students. One of my many goals is to create a safe place where children can grow and develop confidence in themselves. I want students to love learning and become intrinsic learners. I believe in having a growth mindset. I look forward to being a part of your child's team, with the goal of helping them feel success. We will work hard, explore, create, and have fun!

Heather Cameron

Mrs. Cameron

My name is Heather Cameron and I love being a part of Team 5-3. I teach math and language arts. I think math is fun! I love unlocking the joys of mathematics for all my students. My goal is to try to help your child not only improve in his/her math skills, but to learn to enjoy it as well. I also love writing. As a child I had aspirations of becoming an author and I take pleasure in writing, mostly through journaling, whenever I can. I hope to inspire the students in my class to become better writers and to see the power in writing.

I am originally from Southern Arizona, but I’ve lived in Rexburg for 11 years now. Although the cold was a hard adjustment, my family and I absolutely love it here. Before I moved to Rexburg, I taught 7th and 8th grade Reading, English, and Algebra in Tucson. My other full time job is as a wife and mother to four children who fill my life with joy and craziness.  In my spare time I love to read, travel, read, make raspberry jam, read, spend time with family, and read some more.

I am passionate about teaching. My mission as a teacher is to instill a love of learning in my students and to help them on their path to success and achievement.
